Farzad Basardeh was born in 1973 in Tuyserkan, Iran. He completed his elementary and high school in his hometown in 1987 and 1991 respectively. He showed interest in Persian calligraphy when he was at age of 13 and became a student of Aziz Golkarzadeh. Persian calligraphy is known as one of the most revered arts throughout the history of Iran. Farzad continued calligraphy at the Society of Iranian Calligraphy (SIC) and achieved his excellence and outstanding degrees in 1988 and 1991, respectively from SIC, where he was trained under Master Mohammad Reza Khodaweisi. As a Bahai teaching or practicing his own religion was illegal in Iran and therefore in 1999, he had to leave his country for Norway. He studied petroleum engineering at the University of Stavanger and received his bachelor and master in 2010 and 2012, respectively. Over the past three decades, he has been active in calligraphy. As a master calligraph can he caligraphy in Persian, Arabian and Latin fonts. Basardeh`s works have been the subject of several solo exhibitions in Norway. He`s now working on modern Persian, Arabic and Latin calligraphy.
